What can I expect to achieve?
That is down to your commitment and the goals you agree with your Cardiac Coach. You will first go through a comprehensive assessment process which includes a clinical and lifestyle review from one of our experienced clinical nurses. You will then progress to a full clinical assessment at our Centre of Excellence. Thereafter, you will begin your journey with us. There should be no surprises when you get to your first reassessment 12 weeks later as your Cardiac Coach will present your progress throughout to demonstrate what areas are going well and what areas need more commitment.
Do you offer nutrition guidance?
Yes. We don’t believe in quick fixes or diets. You will see no fashionable nutrition fads or quirky new methods. All guidance is based on proven science and we seek sustainable, incremental changes. We work with nutrition experts and each nutrition plan will be tailored to you and your needs. You cannot exercise your way out of bad nutrition, so this is extremely important to us.
What are your opening hours?
The clinics open at 0700 and the last sessions finish at 2030. It is important to create consistency and make CP+R habitual within your lifestyle so you will be allocated fixed training times at the outset of your journey. Your customer service manager will discuss your lifestyle with you and find a comfortable training routine.
Will I lose my sessions if I am on holiday or if I have a business trip?
No, but if you do need to re-arrange a session we do have a 48 hour cancellation policy. In order to achieve measurable outcomes, consistency is key. Therefore, if you need to move sessions we will look at adding sessions in other weeks to ensure you meet number of sessions you have committed to in your membership level.
When can I start?
As soon as possible. Please contact Jamie Whitehouse at referrals@cpandr.co.uk and we would be delighted to help you.
How often do I need to come to CP+R?
Our clients commit to seeing us at least twice a week but our most successful clients see us three or four times a week. We also prescribe you activities to do outside your sessions to ensure you are empowered to be improving your health at all times. Our model is based on balancing the responsibilities of everyday life with prioritisation of your health and life goals. Many people at CP+R initially perceive they don't have enough time to invest in doing a process like ours but once they commence, it is the first thing that goes into their diaries at the start of each week. First you make your habits, then your habits make you. It is our job to make it fun and to inspire you.
What is a Cardiac Coach and who will I be working with?
A Cardiac Coach is a top sports or human scientist with a passion for helping people, further equipped with CP+R training. We describe our Cardiac Coach team as 'science geeks but real people at heart' and this is the spirit of CP+R. All our Cardiac Coaches are meticulous, knowledgeable and love science. They are also engaging, friendly and take great pleasure in helping others. We offer a team-to-one approach. So as well as your Cardiac Coach, you will also be looked after by a team of nurses, an experience manager, a registered physio and many more people.
Do I need to be referred by a doctor?
You don't need your doctor to recommend you to CP+R. We work with anyone who aspires to improve the quality and duration of their life and you may be interested to know that our existing clients are our best referrers.
What do I wear?
Please wear exercise kit you feel comfortable in and a well-structured pair of trainers.
What happens if I am unwell, stressed, tired or just don’t feel like training?
We still encourage you to turn up. We carry out a comprehensive clinical screening process at the outset of every session and will always adapt our plan to ensure your safety and wellbeing. We 100% guarantee you will always leave feeling more energised and be able to do more that day.
Here’s a few examples:
- If you are going through chemotherapy and feeling low or just exhausted, you can take a taxi to us and we may undertake a light stretching session or gentle cardio to reduce toxin levels in your lymphatic system and improve your blood flow and oxygen levels
- If you are tired and stressed from work we will focus on decreasing your blood pressure and adrenaline response, as well as increasing your body’s oxygen levels to give you more energy and a clear head
- If we feel you aren’t able to train, we’ll let you know right away and address the issue with you, or involve your doctor as appropriate
- If you are in any doubt, call your Cardiac Coach before the session and they will advise you
