Vaughan was introduced to CP+R after discovering he was at high risk of progressive cardiovascular disease. He was warned if his lifestyle or health didn’t improve, this may lead to a cardiac event or a medical intervention being required.
Our action plan
As well as reducing cardiovascular disease risk, Vaughan was also concerned about his decreasing functionality and wanted to protect his mobility, strength and function as he aged.
When he joined CP+R, Vaughan was overweight and struggling to implement a consistent healthy lifestyle. To begin with, we focussed on the basics of implementing regular daily activity through steps target and overhauling Vaughan’s nutrition to support weight loss and improved cardiovascular health. This meant a higher vegetable and protein intake and reducing the presence of refined, processed foods.
Gradually, Vaughan began to build up resistance exercise with the supervision of his Cardiac Coach. He also completed additional solo sessions prescribed by our coaching team. This, combined with regular aerobic exercise and an altered nutritional intake, was life-changing for Vaughan.
Vaughan’s results
Vaughan was extremely consistent and dedicated to CP+R, indeed he began enjoying exercise as part of his daily life. This led to astonishing results; within 12 weeks Vaughan lost 10.6 kg of body mass, in addition to gaining 1.7 kg of muscle mass, which is a 12.6kg reduction of fat mass. This decreased weight meant Vaughan had the energy to regularly complete over 15,000 steps a day. With higher energy levels, his professional and personal productivity also increased hugely and he is now able to enjoy his life fully and look forward to many more active years.
